Design+Align Conference

Does the internet make young people stupid?

Don Tapscott held a key note speech at the Design+Align Conference of the ITM department of Ryerson University. Tapscott stated that young people nowadays is not getting stupid because of the internet.  His research shows, that young people know indeed more than their parents. He argues that the school system is broken, not the young people.

Young people know how where to search for knowledge. And the “Net Generation” is not narcistic. In 2008 more American teenagers volonteered than in 1994.  Tapscott outlined the changes and challenges for the “Net Generation”. He thinks that the education system should be based on collaboration and teaching students how to think critically and solve problems.
